Nobody is overtaking Tim Hortons in Canada, but retail analyst Bruce Winder says Dunkin's focus on a younger demographic and some Canadian discontent with the Tim Hortons brand means inroads are possible.

Brett Willis, chief development officer at &pizza, said he feels India is a ripe market for the brand's international growth, but the brand is taking a careful approach in development by starting with 10 locations in the country's north region.

Foodtastic CEO Peter Mammas says his company has "an infrastructure here that could support the franchisees operationally, purchasing-wise as well as marketing-wise" that wasn't in place with Dunkin' in its earlier attempts to expand in Canada.

Dunkin' hasn't been in Canada since 2018, but it signed an agreement with Canadian operator Foodtastic, which will act as a master franchisee as the beverage and donut brand seeks to open hundreds of locations there in the years ahead.
